About Gregory Clyde

Gregory Clyde is a U.S. Army veteran, security professional, and author whose work explores discipline, memory, leadership, and the quiet consequences of service. His writing is shaped by military experience, years in physical security leadership, and a lifelong commitment to understanding how character is formed under pressure.

He does not write to glorify war or dramatize conflict. Instead, his work

focuses on what remains after the noise fades—the lessons carried forward, the weight of responsibility, and the enduring influence of decisions made in difficult moments.

Gregory’s debut book, When the Smoke Lifts: Infantry Principles for Life & Legacy, draws upon lived experience and military principles to examine endurance, fatherhood, leadership, responsibility, and legacy.

In addition to writing, Gregory has spent decades in security and risk management roles across military, federal, and private-sector environments. That background informs his perspective on leadership, accountability, and decision-making—subjects that run quietly through all of his work.

Gregory publishes independently through Shadow Horizon Press, a veteran-owned imprint founded to preserve authentic storytelling and craftsmanship outside mass-market publishing. His books are produced with deliberate attention to design, permanence, and integrity.

Long before the books, there were the experiences that would eventually shape them. From Kosovo to Iraq, military service left Gregory with lessons about leadership, responsibility, loss, and endurance that remained long after the missions ended. Years later, those experiences became part of the foundation from which he writes.
